Prioritising Your Needle-Moving SEO Tasks

Speaker: . Explore my experience and other talks.

Most SEO task lists are too long and too unfocused. This talk introduces a practical framework for working out which tasks will genuinely change performance, how to sequence them, and how to stop spending time on activity that looks productive but doesn't move results.

About this talk

Delivered at Brighton SEO in October 2024. SEO teams and small organisations often have long lists of things to fix but no clear way to know which fixes will actually change outcomes. This talk addresses that directly – the framework draws on real prioritisation decisions and the habit of asking "does this move the needle or does it just look like progress?"

The talk is particularly relevant for small organisations, charities, and community groups who can't afford to waste limited capacity on low-impact SEO activity. The same framework underpins Cited's consulting approach.
